Technology is the core to Hitachi’s LCD and Display Systems. Hitachi strives to develop display technology based on extensive reliability, high quality, and superior functionality. Hitachi is a leader in several technical areas, which are the basis for the display design, to include In-Plane Switching (IPS) architectures, LED Backlighting, High Bright/Outdoor Readability Offerings, and Panel+ Display Accessories and Services. IPS TechnologyThe IPS technology is a TFT liquid crystal technology of the In-Plane- Switching method with behaviors that differ from those of typical TFT liquid crystals of the TN or other methods. The technology was released in 1995 and commercialized in 1996 by Hitachi, Ltd., evolving through Super-IPS to Advanced-Super IPS, IPS-Pro and then to IPS-Pro-Prolleza1. The IPS technology, whereby liquid crystal molecules spin around on a plane parallel to a TFT substrate in the In-Plane-Switching mode where the movement of these molecules is very simple, features a wide viewing angle, excellent color reproducibility, and high response speed in halftone processing.LED Backlighting Systems (LED) & (Long Life LED)LED backlighting is a highly reliable and more rugged approach to display backlighting. Hitachi is leading the industry with 70,000 hour lifetime ratings on many of the LED backlit displays in their product line-up. Many of the LED backlit displays also offer internal control circuitry, so that the end user only has to provide a PWM signal to vary the brightness or dimness of the panel. RUGGED+ DisplaysOur "RUGGED+" Display series highlights our Ultra Wide Temperature Range Transmissive TFT Displays with Long Life (70K hour) LED Backlights. These panels are specially constructed to provide a Robust Display solution for especially demanding applications. Professional Media and Medical DisplaysOur "Pro-Med" Display series highlights our High Performance IPS Displays which are specifically designed for the High Definition or Large format Media Editing and Medical Diagnosis professions. These high contrast displays provide unparalleled color purity and stability with superior color reproduction and half tone processing across the field of view at extremely wide viewing angles for when the details really count.
High Bright/Outdoor Use (UHB)Our "Great Outdoors" Display series initiative highlights our ultra high bright (UHB) 70K hour LED display solutions starting from 600 nits. Hitachi offers high bright solutions on many panel sizes including 6.5” (1000 nits), 7.0” IPS (800 nits), 10.4” (1000 nits). Optical enhancements are also an available option for improving outdoor readability and Hitachi can do semi-custom modifications to add AR/AG coatings to the top polarizer of the panel, change the optical stack or provide custom optical bonding solutions. Wide and Ultra Wide Temperature (WTR & UWTR) Rated DisplaysThe majority of our displays are rated as "industrial" and meet a robust wide temperature rating (WTR – 20 +70 C) standard needed for industrial display applications. Our Ultra Wide Temperature Rated Displays see Rugged+ (UWTR –30 +80 C) are for those especially environmentally demanding applications.
Driver Input Solutions (DSB)The majority of our panels are CMOS or LVDS input to drive the display content. CMOS is generally used for 6 bit per channel VGA displays and lessor or for data sent over short distances. LVDS is used over longer distances and for higher input data rate displays. We also offer a series of DVI input displays in 5.7" (VGA), 6.2" HVGA and 8" WVGA resolutions for a simpler customer interface solution. We have also provided custom analog CVBS and RGB (DB15 "VGA") input panels or driver boards for individual customer's who's systems were limited to these technologies. We have integrated computer solutions for applications which require a much more compact footprint than separate computer and display solutions can provide. |
